Rhodonite is a rose pink to red manganese inosilicate. It was named in 1823 from the Greek ‘rhodon’ meaning ‘rose’. It often occurs with black manganese oxides which occur as dendrites, fracture-fillings or in the matrix. Rhodonite is an uncommon mineral only found in a few small deposits across the world.
