EGYPTIAN BASTET TEALIGHT OR GEMSTONE HOLDER

BASTET TEALIGHT OR GEMSTONE HOLDER

ANCIENT EGYPT · CAT GODDESS · BUBASTIS · SACRED FELINES · EGYPTIAN MYTHOLOGY

Bastet was one of Ancient Egypt’s most beloved goddesses 🖤🐈⬛✨ Often shown as an elegant woman with the head of a cat—or simply as a graceful black cat—she became closely associated with the home, family, music, celebration and protection. Her feline form reflected everything the Egyptians admired about cats: beauty, independence, affection and a very definite ability to defend themselves when necessary. 🌙🏺

Bastet’s story goes back thousands of years. In her earliest form she was actually depicted as a fierce lioness goddess, but over time her image softened into the domestic cat we recognise today. Her main centre of worship was the ancient city of Bubastis, where enormous festivals were held in her honour. Cats were considered sacred animals connected with Bastet, and harming one could be treated extremely seriously in ancient Egypt. 🐾✨

Finished in striking black with beautiful gold detailing, this Bastet Tealight Holder combines one of Egypt’s most famous feline figures with a wonderfully atmospheric design. Add a tealight to the holder and let Bastet bring a little ancient Egyptian mystery and golden glow to your space. 🕯️🔮🖤
